British badgers get a break... for now

The British government may have finally seen sense this week as they were forced to u-turn on their proposed plan to senselessly slaughter thousands of badgers in their vain (and misinformed attempt) to reduce bovine TB. Now whilst I have to agree that the disease is a massive problem in the UK, costing the taxpayer in excess of £90 million last year, the plans to kill badgers (thereby disturbing the population and forcing them to migrate to pastures new) was just beyond stupid and the only logical reason I can find for the handful of 'scientists' actually backing the plan had a vested interest in the project either directly or otherwise. Anyway, whatever their motive, it's a relief to see that plans have at least been put on-hold (and will hopefully die a horrible death) so that more sensible and humane practices can be reviewed such as vaccination and biosecurity measures. Yet another coalition initiative bites the dust under the overwhelming weight of public pressure. Result!

What The Freak? Just watching Russell Howard (love that show) and right after a slightly oddball piece about machine vended crabs (!) came the news about McDonald's latest offering... McWeddings!

Some time ago I tried a small social experiment: I created a spoof video and uploaded it to YouTube -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_4k19IFFh

As I write this, 569,195 people have watched the video, most of whom were shall we say disappointed with what they found (more fool them).

What's really interesting though is the comments I've received.

I used to get loads of hateful posts from people genuinely upset that they didn't get to see Ms Cyrus' exposed breast but recently the trend has swung in my favour and people are amused not only by the spoof but by the stream of hate pointing in my direction.

Think it's time for a new video... *snigger*

International Burn a Koran Day

Two months ago, a psychotic religious fundamentalist in Florida announces he's holding an "International Burn a Koran Day" on 11 September (how fucking dare he declare his personal vendetta an 'international' event, making the rest of the world guilty by association), and some of his congregation makes a Farcebook page to declare his intent.

Suddenly, this fucking idiot is making world headlines because another bunch of fundamentalists, this time in Kabul, get upset by his idea (didn't see that coming) and throw rocks at the US soldiers who shouldn't even be there in the first place and the president declares he thinks it's a bad idea to burn the Koran because other US troops may get hurt.

I've not heard anything quite so stupid for a while.

It's just another example of some fucking idiots waving their deities cocks at each other, arguing over whose is the largest, even though both deities are invisible because they are nothing more than the idiot ramblings of an under-active imagination.

Then the powers that be get all upset because frictions which they caused may be further fuelled by people declaring they intend to burn books which (let's be honest here folks) the US government would like to make illegal if they could.

Personally, I'd like to see the book burning go ahead, if only because the minute he lights that match he becomes an international target and will very quickly come to realise the stupidity of his actions. The human species would be a lot better off with one less moron taken out of the gene-pool.

As it stands, it doesn't look like he has the balls to go through with it.
